Your cat may never want to explore outside of your garden. All of my cats have been very different, some didnt want to go out, one in particular sometimes goes out and I dont see her again until the following morning but she's a tart and likes the outside world.
Cats that have been neutered dont tend to wander far so maybe that answers your question? I'd be happy if my cats did'nt wander far..there are so many dangers over the garden fence!
I hope this helps

When a cat is nuetered it does cut down its roaming instincts greatly (which is a good thing as when they're not nuetered they become very territorial which often results in fighting other cats. They also compete for mates and both the fighting and mating often lead to the many diseases that are rife amongst un-nuetered cats). I prefer my cats to stay around the garden because like kelebek says there are so many dangers when they venture further away from home. Also once the winter months have set in most cats will prefer to stay nice and warm snoozing indoors until the weather warms up again (though there are exceptions to that rule cos a few of mine will go out in snow, rain, gales, but generally not for too long!).
