Hi guys, I know nothing about MP3 players and was wondering if someone can tell me will an ipod shuffle work with millennium edition on my computer? My comp is about 4 years old and very very rubbish so I am not sure if it will be compatible or not.

Many thanks :-)

To connect to your MP3 player to your PC you will need a USB port ,which I'm sure yours will have but it is probably USB1.

MP3 players generally specify that a USB2 connection is required but in practise the players are backward compatible with USB1 and the only difference you will find is that it will take longer to load your music files.
but I-Tunes needs Win XP I think.

oh its all very confusing for just sticking a few cds on a portable device lol thanks for the replies guys :-) x
you need windows XP and a broadband connection for itunes
iTunes requires windows XP or windows 2000. If you want to upgrade with your current computer, 2000 is the way to go.

However, you can still use most of the iPod's features with other software that should run on winME, such as winamp (I believe).

As the above say too, make sure that you have USB2 ports on your computer. Without this, your song transfers will take forever.

Thanks everyone - it looks like i need a new computer before i can get an ipod. SO gutted as i spent a fortune on the pile of rubbish i have :-) Anyway, thanks again :-)
I wouldn't worry too much about only having USB 1.1
12Mbps transfer speed equates to about a 3 minute song transferring in 2 seconds.

Didn't realise iTunes ran on 2000 too, juts remember not being able to use it with ME.

If you can get other software to interact with iPod, then there's not really a problem, and certainly you don't need iTunes for non-iPod MP3 players
