Where does the name 'New Scotland Yard' originate?
Seems funny that the English police are called that, I was just curious about why.

They used to be based in offices on a street called Scotland Yard and over the years the HQ became known as Scotland Yard. When they moved to new premises they took the nickname with them but added New.
