HELP!........ Scatty mother!............
4 Answers
I have recently visited my mam who lives in the North/East, she is 77 years old now and not only is she repeating the same tales ect, but is getting forgetful and scattier over time, the 11 days I spent with her were fun and entertaining to say the least. For 3 days she kept saying that she could'nt see properly and that she might need her glassses changing.
After close inspection she'd only had 1 lense in her glasses and she hadn't noticed until she went to clean them!............. I found the lense in the front passager seat of my car, the whole family will never let her live it down for a while.
I took her out to a retail park the folliowng day, she has trouble walking and uses a fold down disability scooter, I got it out of the boot and put it together only for her to tell my sister and I that she'd left the keys to it at home....... aarrrhhhhhh. We ended up hiring a wheel chair and she moaned that she felt like an old woman!...........
Parent's eh!, they are such hard work at times!........ but I love her dearly, bless her. Has anyone else got a scatty parent like me?.......... X X X :-)

You say she is becoming increasingly forgetful and perhaps it's time for her to have a check-up with her doctor. She does sound as if she's rather losing the ability to think and plan ahead for herself and if she lives alone this could eventually cause problems for her and anxiety for you and your sister.
Do you know any of her neighbours? Could you keep unofficially in touch with them to see if they are detecting any similar signs which could form part of a pattern?

Hi WendyS, Thank you for your concern for our mam, I also have 4 brothers who live within 5 to 10 minutes driving distance, my sister is my mam carer and lives in the same street and is always at hand to see mam at anytime of the day or night. My mam does have regular check ups at her doctors as she has high blood pressure, cronic asthma. and a leeky heart valve which is monitered regually, she is a worry as you can imagine and the family are always there to keep an eye on her. She is young at heart person and absolutely hates what her body is doing to her, I wish that there was a special pill she could take to make her fit and healthy.
Thank you so much for your caring post. X X X :-)
