Strange!!!

When I open email attachments they open in Nero Photo Snap, and if I scroll in the window with mouse wheel all manner of images from web sites appear, photos banners, logos etc. Why is this and why does email open in Photo Snap? Can I prevent this?

Each object type in Windows has a default program that opens it. It is defiend by the three character extension

So a DOC file opens in Word, a HTM file opens in your browser etc. But these can be changed.

My guess is the pictures are in JPG format and the default on your PC are for JPG files to open in Nero Photo Snap.

You can change this by finding a JPG file on your computer, right click on it and select "open with"

From the list offered select "Choose program" and a window opens.

From the list of program select one.

MAKE SURE you select the option at the bottom, "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".

Press Ok to exit all the windows.

JPG files should now open with your desired program.

Note that JPG files can also have an extension of JPEG so change them to open in your desired program as well.

The reason this is a problem for lots of people is that many programs you install try to "grab" all the three character extensions for themselves so they open in their program.

So movie files like MPG, AVI, MOV etc can be grabbed by the last video program you install.

So if you install Nero it will grab them, then if you install say Real Player it will grab them, then if you install QuickTime it will grab them.

Most of these programs do put up a window at the end of the install saying "do you want us to open these file types" but we all tend to press OK without reading the text.

I usually click NO on a window like this to leave the defaults as they are.
