On the radio they are announcing that Operation Stack is in force again on the M20 in Kent because of strike action in Calais.

Does any one have a link to the reasons for the strike? (I have searched but have been unable to find out anything).

I just want to be able to keep an eye on things because I am travelling Calais-Dover on Monday.

OK, it seems to be over now and this was the reason:

"The port of Calais was blockaded by members of the Calais Chamber of Commerce, who were striking over the dismissal of a cleaner." (From BBC)

It beggars belief the the French police appear to do nothing.

same old story...something upsets the French, in France, this time a cleaner....and what do they do???...block the channel ports...that'll sort it!.
and as I heard it, the police are probably in the same union, the one that covers police, farmers, lorry drivers, fishermen, shop workers, binmen, grape pickers, baguette stretchers, onion stringers, and so on. Oh...forgot to include politicians.
