I have a bailiff chasing me as I owed �60 for a parking fine, yet the bailiffs posted a letter advising it now is �420 and its only 9 months on!

Get it paid without any further delay. If you don't the amount will go on increasing - I've heard of them going up to well over �1000.

I'm afraid the old head in the sand routine doesn't work. Are you disputing the ticket? If not why let it get to the stage before paying? The cost will only escalate.

Most Bailiff companies will add their own charges everytime they knock on your door or post you a letter etc. Plus the original fine may have gone up as it has been unpaid for 9 months.

Be careful. I had the same thing once and the bailiff came round and posted the letter through my door without even knocking. They do this so they can call out again and add another �150 on.

I heard of a council which ended up with possession of a house to repay an excess parking charge which, with bailiff's costs, amounted to �18000.

best move, if you are going to avoid debts you need to be a short- stay type of person, this is advice from being on the other end of 'non-payers'.

Hi Just to say it's been all on the TV ,if i were you pay now you will stop all the agro, it will never stop going up and if you run away they will find you some time or another. GOOD LUCK
