an elderly couple i know
they live in an council hause
they are worried
that if one of them dies
thed other will be dumped
somewhere
would one of them
be left in the hause
i am just wondering what the council ruling is on this

I would take it that the one on there own would carry on living there...I'm sure my grandad carried on living there when my nan passed away..until he sadly passed - but that was some years ago...
henrys, if the tenancy is in the husbands name it would pass on to the wife and vice versa, the council might ask them if they would prefer a flat,but I doubt very much they would try to force them into it.tell them not to worry.
I know an old guy who had to move out of a council 3 bed house and into a 1 bed flat after he'd been on his own a while. Best check with the council and get something in writing just in case!
My nan is still living in their house two years after my grandad died and she has had no sign from the council that they want her out.

Yes my nan lived in her council flat for 15 years after my grampa died so I suppose there's no need to worry.
