burning a downloaded movie

If ive downloaded a movie from the net (legally of course!), what format do i need to convert it to to put it on to a blank dvd? Because ive tried doing it as it is and it doesnt recognize the format when i try to add it to the burn list?? Many thanks in advance!!

Where did you get it from? I didnt know you could get films over the internet in the UK legally yet... Iv been waiting to do this for ages!
Anyways, if you use Nero, you can burn DVD video - it will do all the necessary conversions for you. Does take a while, though.
is yor burning software by roxio by any chance?i had this prob but buying nero software sorted this prob out
If it's an avi, divx or xvid file, you can burn it as a data disk. If it's DVD format, then drag the files to the VIDEO_TS directory after selecting the DVD film mode in Nero (or Roxio)
