Hello this is one for the ladies, or men if your wife/partner has one.

Do any of you have this contraceptive device fitted and if so how do you find it?

I mean how is it for you do you have any problems side effects etc.

I seem to get a few that that are on the list.

here are a few that I pasted from the website:

Other reported problems include headache, lower abdominal pain, back pain, skin disorders, benign breast problems, vaginitis, depression, mood changes, nausea. Other isolated side effects reported included weight gain, hair loss, greasy hair, increase in hair growth (hirsutism). These are rare side effects and need to be balanced against the advantages of good worry-free contraception which is reversible.

spurslady - I don't know about this particular one but I used an IUD many years ago and contracted PID as direct result, I was warned at the time that this may cause fertility problems - which it did, the result being I eventually became a mum after many years of trying at the age of 39 and I was only ever able to have one child.
We always rely on the biscuit tin method, it never fails!!

The only drawback is you can only do it standing up, it works like this: You put a few stones in a metal biscuit tin, the guy stands on the tin and his partner stands on something of an appropriate height. whilst participating in the act of intercourse, you will start to hear the stones in the tin vibrating, when the stones really start rattling!! she must then kick the biscuit tin really hard and away from her!! he falls out, Sorted!!!

Thats what ive been doing wrong all these years ratter!

Ive had my family 3 lovely boys far too many miscarriages so I really dont want any more children, They wont sterelise me as im 27. I think the best thing I can do is book an appointment with my doctor and take it from there

Thanks for all your answers though.
I had it and found it great. Some of my friends have it too and swear that their sex drive is better - ie the pill is a supressant.
my friend had it and ended up getting pregnant with it in and delivering the baby at 25 weeks. He survived and is fine now, but still has breathng difficulties not te mention was actually in hospital for 17 weeks.

I can not wear one as I have had an ectopic pregnancy and am a high risk candidate. Also, I don't like the method it uses, i.e, it doesn't always stop fertilisation, it just prevents the embryo embedding into the uterous....I feel a bit uneasy about that.

However, my sister swears by hers and has never had any probs of any kind. If you are having probs, best just to see your F.P nurse and chat to her about it...
