I actually went once- 2 years ago- to midnight mass and was bitterly disappointed.

Not sure exactly what I was expecting but I wanted Xmas carols and Christmassy stuff....instead we got a sermon about prostitutes in Manchester......was very surreal!
I used to go, every year at one point. Not anymore though.

Last time I went it was to take people to midnight mass when I was a residential volunteer over christmas at a centre for the disabled.

I have my own faith and will honour it in my own way.
I used to go but now I watch midnight mass and light a candle. Sorry BOO Im laughing at thought that sermon:-)))
"Thought Of!
Me too Daisy!!...Oh dear Boo :-(
Not I. I have a gig with the band in a church, which I'm only doing because it's a gig - that's it. When the congregation prays, I will respect their faith and sit quietly, but I will not join them.

What I celebrate is the existence of light in darkness, hope in a bleak world, love and kindness in hearts long soured. Christmas is just a convenient name for it and has no religious significance for me at all.
I will be frog marched to midnight mass and mass on christmas morning. Depending on the church I may even be 'asked' by mother (read 'decline this offer and not only will your soul be in immortal jeaopardy but I will personally ensure that christmas day is spent pondering loudly what went wrong with my sweet, innocent first born daughter') to come down front and sing with her and the folk group.

Actually, I quite like midnight mass to be honest so that's not too much of a hardship, and it's nice to get a sense of what its all about etc...
I always go - Either to Midnight Mass or the morning mass.
I'll be there singing with our choir - I absolutely love Mass on Christmas Day. We sing the most fantastic hymn at the end of Mass and because our choir face the congregation we get to see all the happy faces, kids bursting at the seams with excitement and parents enjoying the magic they've created for them. I know there are dinners to be cooked and rows to be had later in the day and awful sadness in some homes where loved ones have passed on but just for a few minutes at Mass everyone looks happy. People stay for ages in the church chatting to friends and neighbours in little groups - kids talk excitedly too and then everyone leaves to spend their day however they choose. I missed Mass on Christmas Day once in my lifetime - I had the flu. I love it and will continue to go and hopefully sing for as long as I'm able. Its a fundamental part of the magic of Christmas for me.
I'll be there before anyone else, just like every Sunday morning. My nickname tells you what I'll be doing. You can't see us but you can hear us.
me.
me , every sunday, evening practices, saturday carolling. Christmas sunday will be still a sunday and the service on the monday too.
as a christian it just makes my faith extra special to me.
