Fortunately the dripping should only last for about a week, so I would confine her to the area where you can clean it up easily, or maybe get a cage so you can have her in your bedroom at night if you want her with you. You could try putting a plastic sheet under the 'throw 'on the settee in case it goes through.
You can buy a sort of 'nappy' type thing to put on her, but I am afraid I don't agree with them, they usually pull them off anyway and seasons are a part of dog owning.
Please remember she wll be attractive to dogs for anything up to 4 weeks, so don't think you are ok to let her off in the park, or let any other dogs near to her until you are sure she is over it, or you may end of with an unwanted litter. She will be just as keen to get to the dogs, so make sure your garden is secure!
If you are planning on having her spayed then about three months after the season is the best time.

Hi, when my girls are in season they are pretty clean [they spend a lot of time cleaning themselves], but on 'heavy' days or when I have people coming I'm afraid I do subject them to the humiliation of putting on a pair of my daughters knickers......this of course depends on the size of the dog....mine are Yorkshire Terriers....so I cut a hole for their tail and secure them with a hair band. I would like to say that I only do this for short amounts of time as this of course also obstructs them from cleaning themselves. Apart from covering everything is easily washable materials [gonna be a lot of washing...you have a month of this!!!] there's not much you can do. Spaying of course is the permanant answer and unless you have bought a bitch specifically to breed from this should definatley be considered as it not only protects from unwanted pregnancy but also a few health problems in later life.
Hope this helps.
