Terminal Soaps

Why do all the soaps at some time or other have to include someone with a terminal illness in their story lines?

Even Corrie is going down this down this track now, with Cilla's character. Where has all the comedy gone?

Found Norris with his night vision binoculars funny though.

I suppose they try to include every life situation in the soaps,and if an actor is leaving it provides a dramatic end for the character.

A soap is supposed to be a drama - not a sitcom.

Coronation excels in being able to blend humour and tragedy in one episode.

And it's nice to see Cilla playing a more serious role.

Does anyone know if 'Cilla Battersby' actually dies from her cancer?
I wish they wouldn't kill people off in soaps as it would leave the way open for good characters to come back, and I do think there are too many people dying in these progs.
Programmes like Corrie are supposed to be a reflection on life, but there are more people who have moved away in my neighbourhood than have died.

I don't watch any of the soaps. They are the most miserable programmes on TV. Even the things that are supposed to be funny are not. I used to spend lots of time watching all of them but gave them all up over 10 years ago. Best thing I ever did - got a life!!
