Or loads of little things for him such as his most wanted cd, book, dvd, aftershave etc... maybe pack them all separately in a big box so he thinks he's getting one big prezzie but opens it to find loads of little ones.
A voucher for something he's always wanted to do such as a racing car day, day in a recording studio, skydive.

I do like the red letter day gifts idea.

One word: Scalextric.
I triple guarantee that any man, no matter what age, would be over the moon to receive one. I got one last birthday from my (ex) girlfriend and it still remains one of the best gifts ever. Men like them because they were something every boy desperately wanted when they were young, but rarely got them because they were comparitively expensive.

over the years I've bought my husband various 'action' presents. He's been white water rafting, gliding, microlight flying, and the one he liked best, flying a helicopter. These are all really special treats which he wouldn't splash out on for himself, but he has really been thrilled when I've bought them. Boots, Debenhams and Red Letter Days all offer vouchers/packages.
Happy Christmas!!
