How can I access my file of favourites ( in IE5) from other machines when I'm away from home?

OPen your favourites folder and copy and paste all the links into an e-mail, then create yourself a Hotmail account and e-mail it to the account ........
OPen the e-mail and choose "open link in new window"
Alternatively, save your Favourites folder on a floppy disk and open your links directly from the disk
