No response from website
Hi, I ordered a kids xmas gift for 75.00 from Kids Cottage website on 19/11. A couple of days later I got an email from them saying they have none in stock and would I like an alternative. I replied no I did not want an alternative and asked them for a refund if they had taken payment. I have had no reply to this but then they took the money! I have emailed all the email addresses I can find on their website during the last week but have still had no reply as I either want my money back or I want them to just tell me if they are actually going to send it when in stock. There is no phone number on the website just an address. Can anyone suggest what I can do from here. Thanks in advance

Kids Cottage definitely don't have a phone number. (I suspect that it may just be a business operated from someone's home address). A websearch throws up a number for their old address in Bromsgrove; I dialled it in the hope that I might hear an answering machine confirming that it was still their current number. Unfortunately, the number has been reallocated. (The lady who answered was extremely nice about my unwanted call, despite the fact that she's had plenty of other similar calls!).
I've also checked the business phone directory at bt.com as well as trying a websearch for the address (in the hope that the people might also trade under a different business name, with a number listed).
In the absence of a phone number, you can only try repeated e-mails or send a letter by recorded delivery. If you still get nowhere, try contacting Worcestershire Trading Standards at [email protected]

PS: If writing, I suggest sending two copies of your letter. One should go to the address on the website. The other should go to the registered office of the company. See here:

(Interestingly, or perhaps disturbingly, the company is registered as dormant and non-trading).
For just 1 you can get a copy of the current appointments report, which will tell you the names of the directors so that you can possibly hound them directly, here:

I have almost exactly the same problem. Goods ordered 27/11, correct payment taken from credit card, but no ackowledgement or goods. No answer (apart from automated response) to increasingly angry e-mails from me.
Have tried to find phone no. in Yell and BT (none), checked with credit card co. and they have no number either.
I have therefore launched dispute proceedings with credit card co.
Lets keep in touch in case our suspicions are proved wrong, or in case others reply to you with similar. I don't have an e-mail for you other than answerbank.
