The download happened without a problem but when I came to use it either freezes completely or I get the panel saying there is a fault and will have to close down. I revert back to IE6 no problems.
The microsoft update keeps telling me to install IE7. I've given it a chance four times now. To say the least I'm browned off with it. Getting an answer from Microsoft Help is impossible.
Anybody any ideas please as to what is wrong.
Thanks

I too had this problem.

I solved it by making sure everything else was turned off before I started the download - somehow, Skype was causing the problem.

It now is very stable and there is no software conflict - everything works just fine.

As Ethel says, you should close down all unnecessary programs before trying to install IE7. (Actually, you should theoretically do so before installing any software). That includes all of the programs which are running in the background. (To close these, you need to follow the Ctrl-Alt-Delete route).

Better still, do what most of the 'regulars', here on AB's Technology section, did ages ago: Ditch Internet Explorer and install Firefox.

I have also downloaded this with no probs but have noticed that when I am on some sites now the little padlock symbol at the bottom right of screen is no longer showing. Is this right & if not, what can I do. any ideas I'd be grateful for replies. thank you
