Having bought a new house which is about 40 years old and pretty much in it's original state im wondering about prices we are quoted

How much should it cost to completly re-wire the house (2 up, 2 down) and add about 10 new double plugs?

Also wonder how much it should cost to install gas central heating - 5 radiators and a combi boiler provided?

It's a mine field out there just looking for guidence from anyone who is in the business or has experience

Thanks

Very rough estimates, obviously:

Rewiring - 1300 to 1800.

Central heating - 1500 - 2000.

Can't argue with Ethel she does my estimating, and she is very good at it, Bonus for you Ethel., I would say though allow the following number of points in rooms

Lounge 5 Twin switch sockets
Kitchen 5 " " "
Kitchen allow for points not on rccd for fridge/freezer, washing machine etc
Bedrooms 3 twins in each
Hall 1 Twin or 2 singles
Landing 1 Twin or 2 singles
And Ethel is pretty spot on with the guesstimate for central heating aswell.
Question Author
Are these the kind of prices to expect around London?

Being as the house is so old it has one single socket in the main bedroom! Hard to believe some houses are still in the dark ages.

It's tough to know just how many sockets to install - these days there are just so many appliances but I don't want the house to look like one big electric circuit

Thanks for your advice
Probably uplift by an average of 25% for London. I said average - some quotes will come in a lot more.
Materials can be got the same price - but people expect to be paid more around London. Competition drives prices - start asking around for 3 quotes, being very clear about what you want.
