Hello, I am thinking about buying The Sims 2 on PC. I only have a CD drive but I can borrow a external DVD drive to install it but wondered if I can play it without the disk in the drive.

I know a lot of game have the full installation option that lets you play it without the disk but I don't know if The Sims 2 has.

BTW sorry about not posting in the PC games sub section but I only just saw it.
No, you need the disc to play it.
your other option is to google 'sims 2 crack'

if you find one, it is a replacement .exe file that will stop the game trying trying to access the CD.
Get a no-cd crack from http://www.gamecopyworld.com/
If you are buying the game then its fine - its CD based anyway not DVD. We have it on our PC and run it off the CD drive as we dont have a DVD drive.
you would need to crack it but that means that you can't use the build tool so you would need to get daemon tools and image crack it but you don't seem to be the type of guy to go into that much detail.

You can also try a virtual drive which makes the computer think that it is a real drive and has the disk in it.
