German Markets
I am going to Frankfurt next week and jsut wondered if anyone could give me any idea of anything particular I should look out for. I know absolutely nothing about them but would hate to come home and someone tell me I should have bought something which I had missed. Any tips appreciated. Thanks

After of course your dunkel weissbeer,Gluhwein and bratwurst. German markets seem to have a lot of crafted wooden toys, quite expensive and candlelit nativity scenes that are nice. Usually some nice Christmas ornaments that you won't find here, but nothing really special that you "really must have" The special thing is the atmosphere.
I'm going there this afternoon. Lived there in the 80s and 90s. To be honest there's not much there that you can't get in the UK. Definitely go to the Weihnachtsmarkt and try the Kleinmarkthalle too. Other than that you could do worse than go to the top of the Zeilgallerie and walk down past all the shops, if it's retail therapy you're after.
Christmas markets tend towards having the same sort of thing on sale, at least inside individual countries, so you're unlikely to find anything really extraordinary unless some great craftsman has decided to run a stall this year. They're not really a shopping experience as such, more of a Christmas treat.
