Ridiculous Banning Rules, Ed!
34 Answers
I agree that if a poster posts something lewd their post will vanish. That makes sense. However, I do not agree that when a person makes a post and some post lewd suggestions/remarks that the whole post vanishes and we all see ourselves as having contributed to a banned thread. Everywhere else on the millions of forums a poster can have just their post removed and the others left available to view, but NOT cause the whole thread and original question and the sensible replies to be removed as well. It gives the lower mentality far too much scope to rule this forum and cause the original post and all subsequent replies to vanish, and some of the replies have been helpful and quite sensible. If someone reports a post then fine - that individual post should be removed but NOT the whole post and its frequent helpful comments. Shall I pick on a poster and have my friends all report him/her so that any post that person answers gets totally removed? The rules are basically very fair but very biased! I posted on B&S about Viagra and saw a few serious replies, and now find the post has gone and shows as banned - why? simply because I posted a comment and a few were a bit crude in answering it? Why should I - or any other serious posters - suffer any post of ours being removed simply because a few decide to vandalise it? Ed, you are going to have to change the rules or the moderation because nobody deserves to have a serious post banned just because one person who replies gets reported and in consequence the whole thread vanishes - delete the unsavoury replies from one or a few people but leave the original post alone will you?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.muffty, That's my point " A band of friend's"= Clique! We all have online friend's, I keep my "Chat" for Yahoo where I can say what I want without worrying about offending people I dont know. It's not a case of sour grapes whatsoever,it's all about having respect for other's. I will add, some of the Clique do offer help and advice whereas other's go onto B+S just to chat and ask inane question's such as " Im going out tonight, what shall I wear?"etc. What does question's such as these have to do with the Body and Soul? They could easily keep question's like these for MSN surely?
Yes daisy, I agree to a band of friends on here chatting - I would join in too if I had the time (being quite gregarious), but the topic of convo here is this so called "clique" ganging up on another member - completely different kettle of fish!! Have they really got time to confer on another web/chat site to say to one another 'lets oust' ...........(the names have been changed to protect the innocent) ?? Surely not?
I wholeheartedly agree that asking (not even asking sometimes - just stating) "What time is it, now?" followed up with "I can't be bothered to look at the clock" is pure and utter cr@p, but hey, maybe they need some kind of stimulation where they will get a reply from someone as there are so many on the site. Again though this is not what I was referring to.
Somebody started this "gang" post once, to refer to an elite club of abers, who go about not allowing anybody else to answer/join in/joke with etc etc. They also are said to gang rape a fellow aber if that person doesn't wear the right colour socks, or does not conform to or laugh at their jokes. What a load of old ********!!!! I've not been on AB that long, but have not seen anything like this going on.
Maybe if I'm still abering in a couple of years, I too will "see" this elite club at work!

Your welcome, ummmm. Another p.s. to last post - it seems the general opinion of the so called KBG member, is non other than the very person who started the rumour about a clique. That person has on a few occasions (that I have read in threads) and on numerous others being mentioned over time and referred to (of which I haven't read) messed up with replies in the first person and second person. Very resilient character though, still continues to post under different names, whatever flack is aimed at him/her. Understand that same person got the BOOT from another website for doing the same.
no Muffty, I didn't think for one moment you were having a go at me. Actually its been really nice to see replies from members of which none have either attacked me or fellow posters on this thread. Anyhow, i have had my moan and now feel better and I'll close this thread soon as I don't want it to start a war or anyone taking things personally - I have not aimed my views at anyone at all. i am still very sorry to see wonderful replies vanish when threads are pulled because of the content of one or two other replies within the same thread. Such a shame when this happens.
agree with you, zimzam, but I suspect that when a good thread goes bad it's sometimes a lot easier just to can the whole thing than to pick through it sorting out the wheat from the chaff. The site isn't monitored 24/7 (more 8/5) and I don't think there's a huge staff - which is why users are invited to deal with inappropriate posts themselves, while waiting for the Ed to get back from her weekend courses in advanced metaphysics. If several of a user's posts are reported in a short span of time, that user finds his account suspended; this was introduced, I guess, so that trolls who started posting rubbish on a Saturday night after the pubs closed could be dealt with on the spot, while still leaving open the possibility that Miss Ed would deem them harmless and reisntate them on Monday.
