45's
2 Answers
I found a bunch of old 45's up in the attic. None have sleeves on them but all in good shape. Probaly about 30 or 40. I am wondering where I could go to find out how much they would be worth. One example would be Bell Records, the choking Kind bye sonny cox...with chocolate candy on the other side..Another would be soul records, stand by me by david and jimmy ruffin with your love is worth waiting for on the flip side...thanks :)

I dont know where you are located but if its the UK there are magazines that do valuations and reviews however without the sleeves the records are immediately devalued and I would think this being the case that the 45`s are in far from mint condition and unless its something extremely rare in my opinion you wont find much interest being shown purchasing them.
I have over 2000 45rpm singles and EP`s and due to the fact that they have been played extensively over the years very few of them are worth anything other than a few coppers
You may like to try these 2 URL`s the first is purely links to sites but they may be helpful the second does do some listing (or it used to not sure now)
other than that there used to be a mag called Record Buyer again I am not sure if its still in existence
Hope this helps and good luck

First of all, condition is everything and if the records are scratched or worn, they are worth very little unless they are really rare.
If however they are in reasonable nick, then a good idea is to check internet auction sites to see what sort of prices similar records are fetching (search on labels/artists). If the prices are worthwhile, consider selling in same way. If not worth it, then charity shops are always pleased to receive your donations. There are always people searching through boxes of 45s in my local shops!
The lack of a cover (on a single) is not necessarily a disaster, though of course the record can get scratched. In fact, many DJs replace the ordinary paper cover with a card cover for their racks, since the paper cover would deteriorate very quickly in use.
There are firms which sell plain paper or card covers for records of all shapes and sizes, if the records are good enough to warrant it.
