cheapest 1-way air fare using a random date with Opodo is 135.00 (with Air Baltic), and a 1-way train fare is about 138.00.
Air Baltic flights would not be direct and they would fly into Gatwick (via Riga, Latvia, I think).

Direct return flights with Russia's own, Aeroflot, start at 165GBP return and these are into Heathrow. bmi (British Midland) recently launched daily flights between London and Moscow and these cost from 199GBP, inclusive of taxes. The flights are also direct.

Hope your case is genuine - apologies for alarming you if it is.

The cheapest way if you can't get a cheap flight is probably by bus - they would need to change in Warsaw or Berlin or somewhere like that.
Actually this site http://www.russian-scam.org/message.htm is better - it's not trying to sell you anything.
Aeroflot is cheap but the service awful but I have flown to Thailand 4 times with them via Moscow and it is direct from Moscow but the on flight service not good and planes old but it is cheap about 160
