When is the best time of year to go to France?

Can you be a bit more precise about where in France you want to go and what sort of thing you want to do while there?

Pretty much any date between 1st January and 31st December but it depends where you want to go and what you want to do.
I shall be in Paris next week which will be great as the place will be almost empty of tourists so I will be able to get into the museums and galleries easily and see places as they really are. However it will probably be cold and damp!
