I have been given a wonderful cookbook but it is American and I'm not sure about a few things:
Are Graham Crackers like Digestives?
How many grams are in a 'stick' of butter?
What is bittersweet chocolate?
What is semisweet chocolate?

Many thanks.

Graham crackers are similar to cream crackers
A stick = 1/2 pound or 250 grams
bittersweet = plain
and I assume semisweet is like milk chocolate.
Lakeland sell measures for american recipes.
I guessed for several years until an American moved next door,I used 30 gram of butter-no wonder my results weren't great!
Graham crackers are like UK digestive biscuts, don't substitute for cream crackers.... imagine a cheesecake base with cream crackers?.....

I thought that Graham crackers were similar to (but not the same as) digestive biccies, that there were four sticks of butter to the pound but I have no idea about bittersweet and semisweet chocolate. Oh dear, time for me to check my details !

graham cracker

stick of butter

chocolate
