PC Vs Laptop?
4 Answers
What's better? I know you can upgrade your PC but how easy is this and what would be the advantages? Is it expensive depending on what you need to do?
Sorry for sounding stupid but my PC has 512mb ram, 80gig hard drive (that probably doesn't sound like alot but it's enough's for me and my partner!!) and I've seen a laptop with similar specs so would this be better as it'll take up less space and I'll be able to take it with me as I travel alot and it's also wireless?!
Any help appreciated!

I am not technically minded but have upgraded my pc several times - more memory, bigger hard drive, more usb ports, an ethernet port....
Very easy to do, and comparatively cheap!
I use it to store all my very personal files on (safer than laptop from a theft point of view), my music, photos and so on.
I love my laptop - I keep it free of clutter but use it wirelessly around the house, in the summer house and garden in the summer. And take it on holiday!
Have one of each. :)

I agree with what Ethel has to say. It all depends on what you want to do. If you're quite a heavy user then you may want to have something in one position that's easily upgradable, and so a desktop computer is best.
However, if you have a different style of lifestyle and use your computer for web browsing, email, writing letters, listening to music, and that sort of thing, then you may prefer a laptop.
Also take into account how often you've upgraded your current computer. A lot of people buy desktop machines with the possibility to upgrade, but may only upgrade the RAM or hard drive for example, both things possible with a laptop.

You usually get more for your money with a PC than with a laptop.
So if you spent 500 on a PC and a laptop the PC would probably have a faster processor, more memory, bigger hard disk and a larger screen.
Also hard disks in PC spin faster than those in laptops so are better.
But as others have said, there are other advantages in having a laptop, like portability.
Note that a laptop screen is unlikely to be more than about 15" (although there are some 17" laptop screens)
A PC screen is almost certainly going to be 17", with more and more offering 19".
If you are doing a lot of work with digital images, videos, or even writing computer programs, then a 19" screen is great, once you have one you would not want to go back to anything smaller.
It is all down to how you are going to use the computer, fixed in one place, or on the move.
