Christmas Offending People
5 Answers
With a lot of UK councils now trying to ban Christmas or at least references to it, on grounds it is offensive to non Christians/Muslims, is there anyone who is actually seriously offended by it? If so, why?

It's the councils. What with being funded from the public purse they are afraid of the possibility of being accused of being offensive/racist because of the compensation culture we now live in. It's plain barmy in my opinion. Surely it could be counter argued that it is offensive and racist to be prevented from practicing our own cultural and religious celebrations? No other culture is not allowed to practice their cultural celebrations in this country. It's madness.
Merry Christmas!

I know England is now a multi-cultural Island but i strongly believe that Christmas has been a ceremony held in england for many of years now. Surely if people do not like it, it is their right to go elswhere as they are not forced to be here....... changing christmas would offend many English Citizens, does that not stand for anything today?????
it's absolutely ridiculous not to try and offend people; it's their own choice if they don't wish to celebrate christmas, for whatever reason, religon or otherwise. I'm sure all the people who don't celebrate are more than happy to take the paid time off work. I'm not religious but I celebrate christmas. For people flooding our country and complaining, maybe they should consider that if people flooded their countries, they would expect to be allowed to mark their holidays without any PC cr*p.
Get over it all and enjoy the chance to relax and take a step back to be grateful for what we've got and opportunities we have still to come

My sis works for a national motor dealership that has told its employees they can't have a fairy/angel on top of their Christmas trees in case it offends non-Christians. Well, I'm a non-Christian and it doesn't offend me.
I work for a particularly multicultural and PC council, and interestingly enough, we have received no such directive. I think we'd all go on strike if they tried it, because we all like to share each others' festivals. Leicester celebrates Diwali in a big way, and not just the Hindu & Sikh communities. Likewise, Christmas is a multifaith/multi-cultural thing. If they stopped us having 'symbols of faith' on display at Christmas, they'd have to rethink the Diwali lights, Navratri fireworks and Eid decs too, and that would make for a pretty dull and unfriendly city all round.
