internet connection

aia hsve only 1 broadband connection which i use to access the interrnet, i have just noticed in my settings that the following has appeared below my isp icon for broadbad. lan or high speed connection1394 net adaptor and this appears to have a higher download rate than the isp icon says for broadband, should i have both these as i am not a local are etwork just a home connection, do i need to get rid of it and is so how as right click does not allow that possiblity asits greyed out,,thankyou

1394 is your ethernet.

In all seriousness, your modem or router, connected by ethernet, is capable of far greater speeds than your ISP provides. This just shows capability. It cannot of course go faster than the ISP.

It is nothing to worry about, and should be left.

1394 is not your ethernet! 1394 is your firewire port (does it say 400mbps?)

ignore the speed ratings. your ethernet for example may say 10mbps or 100mbps. that's the speed of the actual connection, but not of your broadband.

ethernet can be either 10mbps, 100mbps, or 1000mbps. most are 10/100.
