I went on a Nile cruise with my daughter in January 2003 which was perceived as a dangerouse time to travel there. We saw no trouble at all and had a wonderful holiday. It was done through Viking travel and cost around 499. We went on every tour except the hot air balloon over the desert and they added an extra 80 a head to the cost. We had the services of two egyptologists and entertainment was laid on every night of the 10 day cruise. Make sure you go when the Esna lock is passable and take the coach trip to Abu Simbel rather than flying down. Its marvellous crossing the desert and watching the sun rise. As I said, a wonderful holiday which I would thoroughly recommend. I agree with the other person. Please tip the crew members well as they work very hard for little money.
