By all means layers will make your hair look fuller and it will be lighter but probably not so as you would notice the difference. It's entirely up to you what colour you want to dye it, but black dye will make your complexion look very pale. Good luck!
Why dont you get the hairdresser to thin it out with thinning scissors? Also, if you want layers I think they will look really good especially if you have long hair. And about dying it black, as Doolallygirl said it depends on what your skin tone is, you may end up looking really pale. Although black hair looks great if you have an olive tone skin.
ok. one i would defanatly put some long layers and get some pomade while your at it . stay away from black hair color ! choose the darkest shade of brown but not black because if you dont like it your stuck until you grow it out . black stains so it wont fade or wash out even if you use tempory hair color the stuff wont budge even with bleach..
also don't listen to the other girl with the thinning shears it will just make your hair un manageable when the shorter hairs grow out and will also give you split ends and frizz. good luck
I understand you situation. But I think maybe you should keep it you natural color. You don't want to be too dramatic and have the whole school talk about you. Im a high school student so I know how it works! It's really up to you though. I think the layers will look awesome, but I'm not sure about the black. If you really don't care what people say then go for it, it not dont.
