well, as I've just finished pointing out on another threads the British are among the world's biggest emigrants. There are more Chinese and Indians, but that's because they are poor and there are more than a billion each of them. But Britain, which has about a fifteenth of their population, is at number 3. So if the borders were closed the main effect would be to keep the British in, not to keep others out. Then the British would have to be nannies and plumbers and cleaners and corner-store owners, and all the other jobs they prefer to leave to immigrants because they do it cheaper. Want to try it?
