Am I alone in thinking that Julie Walters is vastly over rated. Everyone here seems to think she is brilliant but I think she plays the same charcter and even then over acts.

She seems to have been type-cast since that dinner ladies series she did (or have I just seen her in series were she plays a dithering old wreck)

She is a fantastic actress, and although she is very good as the whacky old woman, this is not her only role.

Billy Elliot, Calendar Girls, Harry Potter, Canterbury Tales, Pat and Margaret, Personal Services - all show her portraying very different characters.

And Educating Rita is one of my all time favourite films.

She is a fantastic character actress.She can take the part of a woman from her thirties to eighties and I personally do not think there is anyone to beat her.Anything with Julie Walters in I will watch.

I'm with Ethel. I never fail to be amazed at the sheer variety of roles this woman can play: a f**rty old crone, a doddery housekeeper, a powerful headmistress, a vibrant dance teacher, a grieving mother, a dowager actress ... the list goes on.

Just marvellous!

Yes, I agree with Ethel & the others who love her....I've never been disappointed with any of her roles.

Yes I thought I would be on my own - or almost -but it seems to me she has found a part she is good at and she sticks to it.

Yes I even found that irritating - I did rate Victoria Wood shows though but not Acorn Antiques - vastly over rated. I guess its horses for courses

I think she is one of our best actresses without doubt and if i know Julie Walters is starring in something then i will go out of my way to watch it! Does anyone remember the one off drama she did with Brenda Blethyn called girls night??? That had to one of her best. Did i cry at the end of that. lol
