Can you prepare veg the night before Christmas?
I am thinking of getting the veg ready tonight so that it's one less thing to think about tomorrow but I don't want anyone ending up with food poisoning! Will they stay fresh if I prepare them tonight? I am thinking mainly of sprouts and carrots... you know how long they take! It's only my second time cooking Christmas dinner and it was such a rush last year we barely ate until tea time!

i have just peeled my veg and put in pans covered in water i have done the same for 17 years and nobody is dead yet, its a busy enough day without having to mess about peeling and chopping all morning. so peel tonight then sit back and put your feet up for the evening and when tomorrow comes you will be so glad you peeled the night before

Wow - that's preparation for you!
Thanks for the advice everyone. I've just finished, potatoes, sprouts, carrots and parsnips, all washed, chopped and ready to go.
I feel a lot better knowing I don't have to do all that rushing tomorrow! I might do this every year now!
Thanks again and I shope you all have a lovely Christmas and a wondeful dinner!

Well its 3am and all my veg is prepared and all ready for the cooking. I always prepare veg the night before but its unusual for me to stay up quite so late. In doing so I think I have missed Santa (because I was naughty and was not asleep with my beak under wing and head under blanket) I may as well start cooking and nap on the sofa at this rate. At least the grub is prepared and right now rotting in saucepans.
