Default standby on a mac

on a macbook when i shut the lid it defaults to sleep, how do i get it to do nothing, so it doesnt go off when i close it, thanks guys

You should not do that with a Mac - it can cause serious damage, that is why there is no option to do so.

I would not risk it, though.
As ethel says, you shouldn't do it with any laptop, including macs.

One of the main heat vents for the processor inside is the keyboard, so by using it with the screen closed it could overheat, either causing it to crash or maybe damage the screen.
