Am I alone in looking with anticipation at the annual Xmas lectures shown on TV? I always seem to gain further knowledge than I had previously. This years subject is Maths, my favourite topic, and I would suggest that anyone who hates the subject watches it. You may be hooked!

The first lecture this evening on Ch 5 was about prime numbers and a 1 million pound prize if found to a certain number of places. I'm not sure if many of the children present understood what was being said especially when creating a formua to solve a problem but the presentation was first class.
Yeah I thought it was good

my watching it caused a family quarrel - they were tired

Difficult to illustrate - I thought he did well.

I didnt think Mersenne number s shoul dbe beyond a child's savvy.

Yes, my kids were in the audience for the first night's program on prime numbers. My daughter is 12 and it was about her level, my son is 13 and it he knew most of it but was able to learn a few new things.

I've taken them to the last couple of years shows and they're really worth while. You can get tickets on-line at the Royal Institutions web site from about September. They usually sell out in a week or two so I write it on my calander.

Unfortunately this year they're refurbishing the Faraday Lecture theatre at the RI so it had to be held elsewhere - for only the second time in the 180 years that they've been held but it was still a great show.

I watched two of the programmes, and thought this year's presentation was poor - and the presenter got two of his basic facts wrong in one of the programmmes. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and put it down to the stress of being on TV.
Some of the kids in the seats behind him on the stage were obviously bored, and a couple of them seemed almost asleep.
I've definitely seen better in the past.
i usually like them, but owing to the time change this year, havent been able to watch. Why have they been moved to the evening?
Which facts were those Heathfield?
Oh no have I missed them? I love the Christmas lectures
Last one tomorrow at 7:15 on 5
I know that Jean-Maurice-Emile Baudot was French, but he surely is not called Bordeaux.
