You've posted your question on a UK-based board but your reference to dollars suggests that you're overseas. (I'm guessing that you're in the USA but, of course, you might be in Canada or elsewhere).
The obvious problem is that most of the contributors to this site (myself included) are more familiar with UK law than with that of the USA. A further complication (assuming that you do live in the USA) is that laws can vary from state to state.
I suggest that you need to check whether your state has adopted the Uniform Electronic Transactions Act. It's likely that this Act, or something similar, will be in force where you live and you may well be able to prove that a binding contract exists:
