Given the way the Tories have started their favourite hobby again...internal back-biting/stabbing...I wouldn't be in the least surprised if he lasted longer on the front benches than Michael Howard will! Why on earth should he resign? (Bet I don't get three stars!)

Yeah, I agree with Andy and QM in so far as I can't particularly see why he should go now when he hasn't already. I disagree with QM on whether he should have though. I bet I don't get six stars...

Well his handling of the war was pathetic but i rate him for stirring up trouble with Spain with his "inappropriate" visit to Gibraltar for the 300 year British rule celebrations. Clearly Spain can't let sleeping dogs lie we won it fair and square .

We won the war in weeks as best I recall, dj_ajax! And that despite the media's firm conviction that we'd be bogged down in the desert sands for months and harried endlessly by Saddam's �lite - there's a joke! - Republican Guard. Mr Hoon was supposedly 'hung out to dry' by Tony Blair - if Tories were to be believed - months ago but he's still in there pitching...most recently taking the mickey out of the Spanish. (Bart Simpson would doubtless refer to them as "paella-eating surrender-monkeys".) Good on 'im, I say, and power to your elbow, Geoff!

i think we're all missing the point here, yes he should go -like all the other ponsy, orthodox and illogical southerners in this outdated beaurocracy! - the best people for the job are military men, surely im right?! -they wud know what theyre doing, not for instance announce "streamlining" the army, after ordering 4, �3bn pointless ships and subs! that mike jackson army top banana should be in hoon's place along with the RAF's and navy's equal! theres no logic, ruthlessness or routine in this blummin' govt, or more importantly, productivity! bout time the north sorted this once fine land out i think
