Do you have t go through customs if you are not leaving airport but only stopping there for a connecting flight?

if you are landing in the usa,your first point of landing,you must go through us immigration,before any connecting flight onwards
Depends where - but sometimes yes. Also on where the connecting flight is going.

If you post more details then you may get a better answer.
When I flew to Louisville, Kentucky I landed at Chicago O'Hare. I had to go through immigration and customs then transfer to another terminal to catch my flight to Louisville.
Where are you flying from and to and what is the transit airport?
