mortal kombat game for ps2? help please

hi guys, i have a ps2 and am struggling finding a mortal kombat game for it, there seem to be loads.. deception, armageddon, shaolin monks etc etc, but dont know which one to go with,
i liked all the old ones like mk2 and mk3, but after that ive kind of lost track- i like all the old characters like sub zero , scorpion etc so are any of the new ones half decent or should i just avoid them all ??
any help or advice is greatly appreciated so many thanks

The majority of Mortal Kombat games went 3D, so personally I think you should avoid the versions that just started from 2D to 3D as they are really bad graphics.

I thought MK Deadly Alliance was good, but in all fairness I too lost track from mk3 on the Sega Mega Drive and so there was a whole load of characters on there that I hadn't even heard of.

After this I switched off from MK again so I wouldn't know about ay new ones.
