ok so i know you can't catch anything from toilets seats normaly but i'm still paranoid. ok so i was dozy tart at work the other day and slightly missed the toilet when i went to sit down. So instead of only my bum cheeks touching it, my "bits" were also touching it as i'd managed to up up right on top of the front of the seat (i could feel it was cold!) so i quickly jumped up as you do. now i'm paranoid i've got something as our work toilets aren't the cleanest of places. there is always something or other on the toilet seat when you go in and you can never work out whether its urine or a splash from the flush. am i being stupid or do you think i have a cause for concern? i know under normal circumstances you can't catch anything. but this was hardly normal was it. i got in touch with brook advisory and they told me not to worry, but i'm nt actually sure they got what i meant! please don't anyone take the mick cos im actually quite worried!

You can not catch STIs from a toilet seat but there is a slight possibility that you could technically catch crabs or pubic lice if someone who was infected with either sat on the toilet seat before you but this is really unlikely as they can only survive outside the body for 24 hours and your genetalia is unlikely to have come into direct contact with the seat to catch them , if at all present. You are right not to sit on the seat for the reasons i've mentioned but I wouldn't drive yourself crazy worrying about it. Instead , your energy would be better spent complaining to your boss about the unsanitary conditions in the toilet if they are dirty and mention the small matter of Health And Safety - that usually shakes them up a bit. Honestly though , don't spend your time fretting about this as it is really unlikely that you will have caught anything x
I'm sure you'll be fine.

If you are really worried, as it sounds you are, then maybe go and get yourself a general sexual health check up and a local gum clinic or similar.

well thanks to one of you for taking the ****. and thanks to the other who are trying to help. i'm a very paranoid person, thats why i'm worried. i think everything is out to get me even though i know its not.

you mentioned that my genitalia would have to come into comtact with the seat to catch anything. well i said it did so thats why im worried. thanks anyways
Ladygarden , when I mentioned that your genetalia was unlikely to have come into contact with the seat , I meant for long enough to catch anything nasty. You did say that you quickly jumped up and I was meaning that you wouldn't have been in contact with the seat long enough - assuming that there was anything there in the first instance which would be an extreme scenario. Seriously though , I would focus more on speaking to your boss about a more thorough cleaning of the toilets if they really are as dirty as you say.

I may be out of line here for saying this and it is with the best intentions that I do say this but by your own admission , you say that you feel that everything is out to get you and I wonder if you have ever spoken to anyone professionally about your fears. I think that if lots of things are causing you fear and alarm then it may benefit you to speak to someone to probe this further and find out why. Good luck anyway x
Public toilets today are a whole lot cleaner than they were 50 years or more ago. And we are all a lot more hygiene conscience.

I have NEVER known anyone to catch anything nasty from a toilet seat.

People used to blame the toilet seat when it was considered shameful to be intimate before marriage, but they got caught out by catching something from their partner.
most people tend not to have any sort of disease of the nether regions so just because you touch the seat doesn't mean its riddled with diseases.

i wouldn't worry, but i future take some baby wipes in with and wipe the seat, or yourself if it happens again
Book your DNA test now ...the queue for these is horrendous ...

after all, you'll need to know who the father is ....right?
It wasnt me!!!!

Are you being serious! and if you are being serious and wouldnt trust the advisory service, god knows what the hell you're doing asking here. I'd get myself off to A&E sharpish if I were you, there's a very good chance you have about 5 seconds to live.
