For nearly all of Medieval history the Jewish people were outcasts from society, and it continued until about the 18th century-Shylock in The Merchant of Venice is one example of a Jew getting a raw deal. Of course in the twentieth century there was still anti-semetism, in Germany with the Death Camps and so on, and in this country with the Black Shirts.
The Jews came out of excile in the book of Exodus (the bible) and much of their history is recored, up to about 400BC, from there throughout the Old Testement. Some of the books of the Apochrapha (Maccabes I&II) also recount some of the history from there to 4AD. From there on I'm not sure, looking for Jewish Historians of that time, I think a chap call Josephs was about then. By the way there is no 'Book of David' in the old testement. To read about David try Samual II and Kings I. All the best Hamish
