I have just accidently formatted the hdd on my computer and obviously lost the lot. Unable to get my english version of xppro to re load I have now installed a french version of xppro and everything is now back to normal ecxept the floppy drive. Q. How do I re-activate it.
mine is also inactive and has been since a hardware up date but that was several years ago and I havent needed the drive once since - do you actually need it ?
My Floppy drive is inactive and I cannot re-activate it. Not that I want to - The tiny amount of information stored on a floppy can be stored multi fold on a CD or external hardrive. Do you have a firend who has both a CD Writer and a working floppy ? It would take ten minutes to put a few floppies onto a CD. Ask him to do two copies - one for you to use and one for you to store as a back-up.
As regard your intial response to Mattk's answer - I don't think in this day and age that it was an unreasonable question to ask - I dont know anyone who uses floppies nowadays with all the other options - but a curt answer will not win you any friends on here After all people spend their own time answering questions and politeness costs nothing.
