Scratching cat
5 Answers
Any advice on how to stop my 6 six year old tabby Milo to stop scrathing the wallpaper? He has done this occasionally in the past but he has recently been doing it more often. We have bought him a scratching post but he just ignores it.
Thanx!

That worked with my cat - i put the catnip on then called him over and showed him what to do by scratching my own fingers on it - he immediately started scratching it and got all overcome by the catnip - spent the next hour or so lying under the post in a bit of a happy daze scratching at it every now and then. Since then he uses it all the time even without the catnip as an incentive!!
Having said that it could just be my mad mog that copies what you show him!!

I had the same problem last year with my 2 cats.. The catnip done the job on the kitten but not on the older cat. I was told to smear a bit of white pepper over the area and a bit on floor below it because when they go back to scratch they can smell the pepper & cats hate the smell of pepper because it courses them to sneeze. It worked for me so it might work for you.
