Given that we can eat these now any time, why do we generally still eat them when they would be in season?

Boycott supermarkets and get down to yer local fruit and veg and buy british strawbs.
vinny100, I meant for after the bbq of course! Sainsburys are not all they are cracked up to be these days. Asda seem to have fresher food though & it's cheaper. Hope you took your carrots & strawberries back for a refund. If you didn't they're never going to know & carry on selling rank fruit & veg!
