And I too hate Houston's cover of I Will Always Love You - or, as she puts it, AAAAAAH-EEEEEE-YAAAAA-EEEEEE-YAAAAA WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU-OOOOO-OOOOO-OOOOO-OOOOO-OOOOOO-WAAAAAHHHH. People (i.e., virtually all R&B singers) who torture single-syllable words like that should have their vocal cords clipped.
That Prefab Sprout one - hot dog jumping frog etc - gaaah! The King Of Rock'n'Roll - that's it.
The novelty ones like Shaddup You Face don't bother me in that I don't consider them songs you're expected to like, if you see what I mean. It's 'normal' songs that are meant to be good that can be the most irritating ones. A supposed 'classic' that I detest is I Will Survive. After about 3 verses I just want her to shut up. Or even 'shaddup'. As someone said earlier about the Sarstedt song, IWS feels like it goes on for ever. By the way that sarstedt one does make me chuckle when he listlessly goes "a-ha ha-ha" after the line "Just for fun, for a laugh".
Tom Jones's cover of Kiss is rotten - but then, almost anything to do with The Art Of Noise is rubbish.
