Whilst watching four weddings and a funeral, One of the weddings featured sang Jerusalem,

Please, Please please I am begging you don't pick Morning has broken. I'm a bellringer and have attended lots of weddings and EVERYONE picks morning has broken. Recently did a wedding that had carols instead (december wedding) and everyone enjoyed the fact that it wasn't the "usual" hymns. I'm not suggesting that you pick carols!! Please pick something nice that means something to you. Have a lovely day.
Why would anyone choose Morning Has Broken for a wedding...it is more suitable for a funeral. Surely the 'Sweetness of the Garden'...where his feet pass' is a reference to Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane before he was crucified? The breaking of the morning is his rebirth...hardly suitable for a wedding, or am I misinterpreting the lyrics?
My first wedding featured 'Morning Has Broken' ..it brought back lovely childhood memories for me. The only thing was I was getting married at 3.30 pm so it was a bit odd ;o) It isn't a funeral song, btw. However my other choice is ~ The Lords My Shepherd. We also had Jerusalem.
Our choices were based on what we liked, regardless of what was deemed 'suitable'.

We had Love Divine many years ago.
My daughter is getting married in June and they are having.
Dance Dance where every you may be, I am the lord of the dance says he. (not too sure it's a wedding hymn but it's their choice) Can't remember what other one they have chosen. I believe they are having Ave Maria when signing the register.

Thanks all for your reply's. Thing is, tho' they're having a church wedding,my daughter and her bf are more spiritual than religous. They both like Morning has Broken(sorry SS squirrel) but don't seem to be able to connect with any other's. "Lord of the dance" hmmm, I like it! zimzam, Im laughing at your suggestion:-) funny cos it's true! Maggie01, mine are having a guitar solo for the signing,a mate of their's. When my daughter walk's down the aisle (sniff) with her Dad,she wants Canon in D but the vicar said the organist's finger's wont span enough LOL so they're asking if they can take a Cd of it along. I hope he allow's it. Mr T,try to name that tune!
Apologies if my reply seemed miserable regarding the funeral interpretation...it was just that a neighbour chose it in that respect, probably thinking of the other wording to the melody (Child in the Manger). I hope the wedding will be lovely and wish the couple all the best...just may I add that if you are using a CD then make sure it is either there at the venue, or someone takes care of it...I only say that cos I was using a CD and left it at home...we had to do a swift 'U-turn'in the wedding car to get it or would have gone down the aisle in silence (embarrasing!) Good luck to all.
