how do you ban a question,im not asking so that i can carry out this terrible act of sabotage i just want to know , it would be good for my soul.

Only members that have turned grey can report a question and they cannot ban it, only the ed can ban it. If a question is reported for certain serious issues on the report list by 3 users it will be automatically removed from the site until the ed has seen it, if the ed deems it suitable or feels that the question was reported unnecessarily, it will be reinstated and the report option removed.
If a question is reported for less serious reasons, it will not be automatically temporarily removed unless alot of reports by different users are made, and then the ed will again look at it and make a decision whether to reinstate it.

There is a self moderating option open to all grey members and to green members after 2 weeks when they turn grey.

Alternatively. if a thread posted during the day is offensive or unsuitable, a quick email to the ed from your own profile will draw it to their attention immediately (unless the ed is on hols or in the pub at lunch time)

Oh and i missed out the bit about the pink banners.

If you have had a thread banned by the ed it will still show in your asked questions in your profile but it will have a pink banner above it saying, ' Don't think you can get away with this sh!te on here , behave' and you can still read the thread, however, you cannot send the link for it to anyone else for them to read what an idiot you were.

If you have a banned answer, i don't think it shows in your profile i do think that just vanishes, however, if a thread is removed and permanently banned any answer you gave on that thread will be recorded in your profile as a removed answer.

I havn't any banned answers ummmm, i have had lots of my replies reported maliciously over the years but usually they are returned when the ed has had chance to sort out the numpties who like to try to control the traffic on here.

Well dot, I have had a few answers banned. They didn't use to show up but since the question author came in they do......like a little reminder of what not to say in the future....I'm a slow learner though

oh i checked my dot.hawkes profile and out of 8630 answers i have 95 removed, which is not the same as banned as most would have been on threads that were removed for other reasons. lol
