Thinking of going to Hurghada in Egypt at the end of the month, but have not booked yet. Any one been and what did you think. Don't fancy Sharm but anywhere else that you can recommend?

Me and my husband went to Luxor last year and thought it was fab! There's tons to see and do there - Museums, camel rides etc and The Valley of the Kings is definitely worth a visit! Wherever you decide to go in Egypt im sure you will enjoy. I would recommend you take loads of pens (we got about a fivers worth of stuff from local 1 shop!) and stuff like that to give to the little kids who have to beg on the street. The look of delight on their faces to receive something so simple was unforgetable.

I've been to Luxor and also Hurghada - we found Hurghada to be quiet during the day (naturally enough because of the heat) but it comes alive at night - one of the reps from the hotel we were staying at even took us to eat out where the locals eat rather than the touristy bit (Hurghada even has a Mickey Ds) - one night a group of us went to one of the pubs and they had a football match on the TV but as Man Utd were also playing that night the owner changed the channel specifically for us so we could watch it ! The locals are a very friendly group of people - there are also some lovely beaches with snorkelling, scuba diving etc and some lovely restaurants
