I've found this is the only diet that works for me. I started on 2nd Jan and have lost half a stone already ( I know some of this may be water but that's fine as I tend to retain a lot of water anyway). My question is to anyone else who tries this diet, what do you eat when the craving for carbs gets too much? I've just had a wrap in the (probably mistaken) belief that the tortilla has less carbs than bread!

We need all the food groups; if you have the determination to cut out carbs in order to follow the Atkins, then why don't you apply that determination to simply eating a balanced diet? Organisations such as the British Heart Foundation and Weightwatchers have comprehensive info on how this can be easily done, without having to necessarily sacrifice the things you like.
To answer your question, the craving for carbs needs to be satisfied by HAVING carbs. That's why you're craving them. Sorry to sound preachy and if it's irritating to have non-Atkins people replying in this way but it's well-meant.
That sort of quick weight loss you described is not good. Also, I don't understand how it can be just water loss if you tend to retain a lot of water, aren't those two processes mutually exclusive?

I know these things are true. I've ony ever done it short term and still eat a small amount of fruit giving me some natural sugar.
I lost quite a bit of weight last year by going to the gym 5 times a week. I've since changed jobs and can't do it anymore. I suppose I'm looking for a quick fix, except there's no such thing!

The Atkins Diet does work. I was on it for 3 months and lost a stone in weight. The low carbohydrate diet was a problem at first having to give up biscuits and bread but you settle into a routine of fried eggs, fried eggs, fried eggs. The biggest problem was constipation which can be worrying when not visiting the toilet for over a week but I felt much better overall. As a person who sweats quite a lot I discovered that even after exercise hardly a bead of sweat was found?
As the diet is unnatural I succombed to the pleasures of chocolate, cakes and bread and soon after regained my previous weight.

Atkins slipped on an icy sidewalk outside his New York office.
He had a heart attack in 2002 but didn't die until this accident the following year. And he was 72, if he had a heart attack at 42 or 52 that argument might hold water.
