Windows Update problem
My wifes Acer laptop refuses to do a windows update - when I try - it loops endlessly through the update procedure - coming up with a page that implies that it is missing update files - yet when I follow this link - it loops back to the first page..... there is no error code on the page......
Where can I download this file necessary to allow the laptop to update ?

I don't know if your problem is the same as mine - I sometimes get those update 'balls' when I try to shut down the pc - and warnings 'do not turn off pc'. Well - it never finishes, so I switch it off at the mains. And when I turn it back on, it finishes the install in seconds.

No
Sorry - I may not have explained properly
The laptop always goes to the correct site for the updates - but when it gets there - and I select either option (Express or Custom) - it goes off and looks for the updates needed - but comes back with the fact that it is missing update files and needs to update to find them !!!
hence the "loop"
